Before the last game of the World Series even began, thousands of shirts were printed by the MLB declaring the Phillies champions. After all, depending on the outcome, merchandise must be available for either teams’ fans immediately after the winning game.

Which is why sports associations print up jerseys, shirts and hats with each team and the World Series information printed on them early in the series.

So what happened to all of that merchandise after the Phillies were beat to a pulp yesterday? It was donated to children in poverty ridden countries like those in Africa and Southeast Asia. World Vision teamed up with the NFL and MLB years ago and now collects and donates misprinted shirts after major championship games.

Which should give temporary relief to any heartbroken Phillies fans. Breathe easy because somewhere out there, a little girl thinks your team won in 2009.
