MLB All-Star Game Red Carpet Show

All-Star-ESPN-flyer
At the Red Carpet Parade surrounding the festivities of the 2008 All-Star game in New York City, thousands of fans united in Midtown along Sixth Avenue to get up close and personal with their favorite baseball greats. As the procession of coaches, managers, players (and their families) glided down the red carpet, baseball promotions zipped through the crowd. ESPN gave out large 11×17 flyers, which were more like small posters, even though the game was televised on FOX last night. They were sort of cumbersome to carry around due to their enlarged size, but I guess it cut back the tendency to litter, which often occurs with handheld flyers. They also gave out baseball-shaped promotional fans similar to the picture shown below, which were very functional for the hot, summer afternoon event.

The man who designed this symbolic bicycle, Meng Jie, was formerly a mechanic but became inspired when the Olympics hit his country. He rides the five-ringed bicycle around the country to promote enthusiasm and hype. It represents the Beijing Games because it demonstrates the high-tech innovation of China and encourages eco-friendly bike riding.
